In late August, Te Komiti Nui met with the Minister for Treaty Negotiations, Hon. Paul Goldsmith, alongside Chief Crown Negotiator James Willis and the Te Tari Whakatau team.

This visit was an important milestone in our settlement journey. It reaffirmed Ngāti Whakaue’s commitment to a process that upholds our mana and reflects the aspirations of our whānau, now and for future generations.

Our board and specialists presented on the history between Ngāti Whakaue and the Crown, highlighting the significance and sacrifice our iwi undertook for the establishment of the township, economy, and the cultural excellence recognised locally and across the globe.
