Our Tohu
The creation of the Ngāti Whakaue logo was a deeply collaborative process, grounded in kōrero tuku iho and guided by the shared values and aspirations of our people. Through wānanga and discussions, we explored the pūrākau and natural elements that resonate with our identity as an iwi. Each design element was carefully considered to reflect the unique aspects of our whenua, moana, and whakapapa, ensuring that the tohu embodies who we are as Ngāti Whakaue. The result is more than just a logo; it is a visual representation of our connection to our rohe, and our commitment to carrying the legacy of our tūpuna into the future.
The green of the land stands together with the blue of our waters, like the colourful mist that appears when Kahukura ngāwhā erupts
We see Ngongotahā sheltering us all and keeping the kaupapa safe
The points represent the six Koromātua, the pou that hold up the whare of Tūtānekai and his beloved Hinemoa
The rippling waves of our lakes, estuaries, and coastal waters flow in unison
